Watching The Sun Rise

Taking Another Break

Once again, I have missed the last two weeks as more family issues have taken centre stage. It’s amazing how demotivating it is when family problems occupy a lot of your waking hours. I mean demotivating when it comes to working on your business. Unfortunately, the blogging has taken the brunt of this.

Facebook Lead Ads

I mentioned last time that I had joined the Facebook Ads Lab Training course run by the awesome Sophie Sion Byde. She is one of the mentors/trainers in Internet Profits. It runs for six weeks, and we’ve just completed week five.

Panic! What did I do wrong?

Before I get into the nitty-gritty of the training, I came across an interesting stumbling block that I initially thought was going to stop my training before it even began. I was trying to open the webpage where Sophie’s training resides and was presented with the below message.

Google To The Rescue

I had been experiencing a similar issue with another website that I visit regularly. It’s one based in Australia where I live and is all about real estate. I had been a “member” for quite a while and usually had no problem logging into my account. However, for the past few weeks I kept getting a message saying I was not authorised to log in.

As I was now getting a blocked message as well, I turned to Google. One suggestion for my dilemma was to check my VPN. My VPN is provided by McAfee for which I pay an annual subscription. I could hardly believe it! As soon as I turned VPN off, both the course and real estate websites were working again.

Peculiar to McAfee?

I don’t know if it’s peculiar to McAfee but I thought I’d share it here in case anyone else experiences this. Once I was logged in to both sites, I turned VPN back on and no further errors were encountered on that occasion. It still happens every time I go to the course website but at least I know the solution now. The other site doesn’t have a problem anymore.

Facebook Business Manager Account

So, week one of the FB Lead Ad training was all about setting up your business manager account. Sophie’s instructions were very easy to follow. I already had a business manager account, but Sophie recommended having at least two business portfolios within it.

The advantage of this is because Facebook will sometimes take offence to something you have created in one of your portfolios and block or ban it. Having more than one means you can continue running ads on the others.

McAfee Strikes Again

I was part way through setting up my second portfolio when I came across an issue trying to link my Instagram account with it. Frustratingly, everything I had set up thus far didn’t get saved. Guess what? The VPN had struck again. As soon as I turned it off, access to Instagram was allowed.

The other thing of note was to give the second portfolio permission to be able to maintain your “business page”. That way you can make amendments to it from any of the portfolios you might have. It’s much easier than having to maintain two or more business pages.

Next time, I’ll cover week two; all about lead magnets.

Have A Great Week

I’d be delighted if you’d like to leave a comment or let me know if you have any questions or just leave me a “hello”. I hope you enjoyed reading this and it has been helpful. As always, it’s been a pleasure to see you in here.

If you’d like to subscribe to my free newsletter, there’s a link in the side bar (or beneath this if you’re viewing on a mobile) or you can find a link here. (There’s a couple of gifts in it for you!)

Until next time.

Take care.

Andy

  1. Totally feel you on how family stuff can really throw a wrench in the works. It’s tough to stay motivated when life gets hectic! But it sounds like you’re tackling those challenges head-on, especially with the Facebook Ads Lab Training.

Love that you figured out the VPN issue with McAfee! Technology can be so annoying sometimes, but it’s great you found a workaround. I can’t wait to hear more about the lead magnets in week two—sounds like you’re diving deep into some valuable stuff! Keep pushing through, and remember to give yourself some grace during these tough times

  2. Hi Andy – I totally get it how distractions and disruptions can interfere with what we want to do and sometimes what we really need to do. It’s all about prioritization and it sounds like a break for you was needed. I’m glad to see you back and tackling some of the many issues that you discovered upon your return. Sophie’s class is great. I took one of her first classes and found it to be extremely helpful for my understanding of the business and how to become better at what I do. Hang in there, my friend, and I look forward to reading more of your great blog posts!

  3. Hi Andy,

Thanks for sharing your experience, family issues can definitely throw a wrench in things, and it’s totally understandable that blogging would take a backseat during those times. It’s great that you’re back at it, though!

That McAfee VPN issue sounds frustrating but I’m glad you found a solution with Google’s help. It’s always good to know these little tech quirks so they don’t completely derail your progress. Also, the tip about setting up multiple Facebook business portfolios is really insightful, I hadn’t thought of that as a way to stay prepared for potential Facebook bans.

Looking forward to hearing about lead magnets in week two!

    Meredith
