Busy, Busy, Busy
This week I feel like I’ve been so busy catching up with stuff. The weekly video recordings of the original Beginners Advantage training, continuing with the Internet Profits Accelerator training, starting the new Beginners Advantage training in the Skool platform, trying to get my head around setting up a Facebook Lead Ad and getting back into creating content for my chosen primary platform – TikTok. Yes, after a gap of over two months, I’ve finally gotten round to adding a new video.
But What Did I Achieve?
And yet, I don’t feel any sense of achievement. Perhaps I’m being too hard on myself and expecting too much. I should know by now that it does and will take time and effort to get the rewards that I wanted at the start of this venture, or should I say adventure. When I look back over the last nine months, back to when I first came across Dean Holland and his program, I have achieved a tremendous amount. I haven’t worked this hard since I was fully employed before I retired.
Where It All Began
Let’s see. About a year ago, I started looking for ways to make some extra income on the internet, having realised that my pension was not going to last very long at the rate I was drawing from it. I came across the term of Affiliate Marketing and that grabbed my interest straight away. There were quite a few ads on Facebook offering courses on the subject and to be honest I was on the verge of signing up quite a few times but chickened out at the last moment. These were the infamous “shiny objects” as I later came to know them by. They promised riches for very little work but were very expensive.
It’s All About The Book
When I first, quite by chance, discovered Dean Holland and his book, The Iceberg Effect, I thought, finally, I have found something that can really help me find out what this business is all about. It certainly is a great introduction and dispels a lot of the myths surrounding affiliate marketing. It explains how it used to be a lot easier to make money in this field and highlights the reasons why the old methods just don’t work anymore.
Russell Who?
The fact that the book is endorsed by a highly successful entrepreneur (Russell Brunson) is testament to its authenticity. Actually, I’d never heard of him, but a quick Google search and I was convinced he knew what he was talking about. In the weeks following and after the book arrived, I received several emails from Dean inviting me to join his Internet Profits Accelerator program. Having read the book, I was convinced that this guy is the genuine article and I had finally found someone whom I can trust to give me the best guidance to set up and run a successful affiliate marketing business.
Exhilarating Acceleration
So having signed up, I embarked on the training called the Blueprint Steps. Step 1 was to complete the Internet Profits Partner Certification Course. This entailed eight modules covering subjects including The Ultimate Funnel, Understanding Traffic, Your Business Plan and finally Graduation. Each module concluded with a simple quiz and at the completion of the eighth module, I was able to call myself a Certified Partner.
Following this were three more steps: –
- Super Affiliate Foundations
- Super Affiliate Offers
- Super Affiliate List Building
Another Shiny Object? Not This Time.
I was part way through the last step when I attended a webinar hosted by Dean Holland, introducing his new software platform called Affiliate System. Affiliate System is a one-stop shop enabling affiliate marketers to run and manage their business from one place. It has features ranging from: keeping track of one’s subscribers/contacts, creating email campaigns, a place to record correspondence (emails), creating sales funnels, recording sales and commissions, creating automated workflows incorporating an autoresponder for emails, a library to store media for use in one’s own website/blog, interfaces with external sites, e.g. webhosting and much, much more. And all this for a small monthly subscription. I was hooked. Sign me up!
To be continued…
Tune in next week to see what happened next.

Hi Andy – You and I have similar paths in that we both joined with Dean at about the same time after ordering his book. I, too, did not know who Russell Brunson was either but I soon found out and was excited to start. Another similarity is I have not produced a TikTok video in a while either. Your new video looks great! I’ve been so busy with getting my Facebook lead ad running that I’ve let this slip. I look forward to your part two as I am excited to hear about your next steps. Have a great day!
Hi Andy,
You’ve been incredibly busy, and it’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished! I’ve been the same way lately too it feels like with everything.
Balancing so much at one time can be tough, but you’re doing a fantastic job.
Don’t worry about not getting as many TikTok videos out than you would like, I haven’t even gotten my first one out yet…
Keep up the good work! I’m excited to see what happens next!

Hi Andy, You are doing great!! My new motto is: don’t beat myself up!! The facebook lead ads are on my agenda, also, but somewhere along the way, I got lost. I will regain my momentum on that score in the days ahead!! All in all, it is quite the juggling act to keep it all straight. But I’ve heard it said, juggling is a good activity to strengthen the synopses in the brain and nervous system!! Onward!
Wow Andy, you are busy!
This is a great start in describing the steps you’ve taken with getting your online business rolling.
And while I’m not a tik tokker, I am impressed by the latest video you’ve shown us. Keep going!
It sounds like you’ve had a super busy week juggling all those trainings and getting back into creating content for TikTok! Well Done!
Keep up the great work, and don’t be too hard on yourself. Every small step counts, and your dedication is clearly paying off. Looking forward to seeing more of your journey and the success that’s bound to follow!
I totally relate to your experience of feeling busy but not quite sure if you’re achieving enough. Dean referred to this as the “busy fool” where you are working so much but not getting results or the right things done. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind of learning and executing new strategies, like setting up Facebook Lead Ads and creating TikTok content, without feeling that immediate sense of accomplishment. Also it is common to get lost in projects like the aesthetics of a website or email templates.
One thing that might help is setting specific, measurable goals for each week or month. For example, instead of just aiming to “catch up with content,” you could set a goal to complete a certain number of modules or launch a specific type of content. This way, you can track your progress more concretely and feel a greater sense of achievement as you hit each milestone.
Looking forward to hearing more about your progress and what’s next in your adventure!
Thank you Alison, that is a really useful suggestion. I’ll take that on board.
Way to go Andy! Your moving along at a brisk pace. It’s amazing just how many people have had this same experience with reading the Iceberg Effect, I wish more people would take the time to give it a read. Look forward to Part 2!
Hi Andy,
I think you’ve been busy and achieved a lot! I remember Dean suggesting writing each thing down and checking it off when done. And that gave him a sense of achievement!!
I have also stopped my videos, so I feel inspired after reading that you were posting again. I have now watched it and am excited and happy for you.
Big achievement!!
I am hoping to get back in the saddle soon!
Thanks for leading the way.
Hi Andy,
Great blog and definitely not another shinny object! I truly believe that the day I ordered Deans book, The Iceberg Effect, it changed my life.
Wishing you all the best in getting you to where Affiliate Marketing can bring us!
All the best!
Hi Andy,
Wow, you’ve had a jam-packed week! It’s impressive how you’re juggling multiple trainings and getting back into content creation on TikTok after a break. Kudos on posting a new video!
I can totally understand feeling like you haven’t achieved much despite being so busy, but remember to give yourself credit for all the progress you’ve made since discovering Dean Holland’s program. Reflecting on the journey and acknowledging those milestones, like becoming a Certified Partner and diving into the Super Affiliate courses, is important.
Your story about discovering Dean Holland and “The Iceberg Effect” resonated with me. It’s inspiring to see how his program has guided you through the complexities of affiliate marketing and helped you avoid those “shiny objects.”
The new Affiliate System sounds like a game changer, offering all those integrated tools in one platform. Can’t wait to hear more about your experiences with it next week.
Thanks for sharing your journey and insights. Keep up the great work and stay motivated! Looking forward to your next update.
Have a fantastic week ahead!
Take care,
Hey Andy,
I love your personable writing. It’s very down-to-earth and so easy to read. Your path sounds like mine, which I followed over a year ago. You’re doing great! And yes, I know it doesn’t feel like you’re moving forward until you look back to see how far you’ve come. I look forward to reading your post next week!!
It feels like you are sitting right next to me. Easy to read and very personable. You provide an easy path for social proof. Thanks.
